CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA - EDITORIAL

This book would be banned in Cupertino, California

“One Nation Under God”

November 27, 2004

OUTRAGE AT CUPERTINO

Reuters News Agency and the San Jose Mercury News report a fifth grade teacher in the Cupertino School District is prohibited from distributing historical documents that mention the Name of God to students in his class.  Most especially, The Declaration if Independence, Washington’s Inaugural Address and quotations from other exalted Patriots of our Republic are prohibited.  This outrageous and shameful censorship is itself insidious, and to target the very documents upon which our nation is founded is a step too far.

Flight 93 Memorial Chapel will make available free of charge, to any student in all of Cupertino, California the publication, “One Nation Under God”, which contains, without editorial commentary, the very documents banned by the authorities of the school in question. These documents disclose the full richness of the faith of our Founding Fathers, as well as the public declarations of statesmen and patriots of our nation since its founding, declaring faith in God as the foundation of America.

These documents are the treasure of our American heritage.  So valuable is a copy of the Declaration of Independence, it holds a place of honor in our National Archives building, and is encased in a special, bullet proof display case, which is submerged every night in a special bomb proof vault.

That we should esteem such documents as our own “declaration of independence” indicates our own immense respect and appreciation for the enlightened patriots, who more than two hundred years ago, framed for their own benefit and for their prosperity forever, a most astounding Declaration that will be forever the pattern for the liberation of humanity.  That those who began this noble task of establishing this unique contract in all of human history were almost all, universally, men of faith, ought to inspire those of America who are themselves adherents to faith in God, and ought not threaten in any way those who do not profess faith in God or any Supreme Being or Creator.

These documents should be available to, and in the hands of not only every student in American schools, but in the hands of every American, and in every household.  Every encyclopedia contains them, every library has copies available, and copies are available from our government. They are available for now, anyway.  If this outrageous and relentless assault is not curtailed, there may very well be a time when the public display of such documents will be outlawed, and perhaps, ownership will likewise be illegal.  This challenge is too great for grassroots defense.  It should and must be entrusted to, thrust, into the arms of the Congress of the United States.

Copies of the book, “One Nation Under God” will be sent free of charge to any student in Cupertino, California who writes a letter of request, stating the reasons why he or she would like to have a copy of the book.  Parents can assist children in completing the order form from the Chapel Gift Shop web link.  Please include postage and a mailing label. Others ordering “One Nation Under God may use the same form for ordering.
